Message from President:

by Melissa McCaslin, Triangle AMA Chapter President

Holidays are a wonderful time of year, aren't they? But with the added activities, they can be stressful too. Studies show that we truly are better at our jobs when we keep a balanced life. What's more, balance helps lower our stress, which affects our health, too. Giving ourselves the down time we need will spark our creativity and enable us to find fresh perspective. So this month, at the prompting of one of my coworkers, I revisited some reminders about how to gain some peace and balance in our lives.

First, remember that it's up to you. No one is going to take control for you. The office will always take as much as you're willing to give. The workload is probably not going to diminish. It's up to you to determine how you spend your time and you only have 24 hours a day, so be stingy with it. In the bowl of life, "put the big rocks in first!" There's a limited amount of space in there, so ensure you get to the things that mean the most to you by scheduling and committing to them first.
