Our August 20 meeting marks the launch of a new year of Triangle AMA programming, events and networking. I don’t have to tell you that these are interesting times for marketers. When I talk to people in our profession I hear more emphasis on metrics, finding new ways to engage consumers and concern about how to invest scarce marketing resources.

June Meeting Recap: Mark McNeilly's Sun Tzu & the Art of Business
Marissa Keller-Gusman
Marketing Manager, Syncfusion

Mark McNeilly was our June speaker and gave a compelling and entertaining presentation about his book “Sun Tzu & the Art of Business”.

What led him to write this book? McNeilly has a history with the military, as was a reserve officer and always had a fascination with military history. He has applied both of these interests to his business pursuits, namely in strategy management at IBM.

Volunteer Recognition

The work of our chapter is all volunteers. Without members and others volunteering their time, we would not have such an outstanding chapter that we enjoy. Triangle AMA wants to recognize several individuals for their work and assistance for the chapter.

Katie Davidson is being recognized for her service to the board over the past year. Katie has been the person responsible for managing the setup and organization of every board meeting, organizing board reports and the agenda. Katie also assisted with editing layout for the chapter's annual plan.

Jeanne Hellman is being recognized for her work with the hospitality committee. Jeanne is responsible for our October social that will be held at Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in October. Jeanne was able to meet with the hotel and catering director to arrange the event.

Audra Marotta is our chapter's treasurer and has done a fantastic job of compiling the Chapter's financials and developing budgets for next year. Audra has also created reports and analysis that has allowed the chapter to measure itself in a short time frame with more accurate information.

Shane Johnston is our chapter's president-elect and has led the group effort to create a cohesive communications team and approach. The group is working on more streamlined and engaging communications for members for this year.
