5 Tools to Help Discover New Customers in a Down Economy
By Pam Baker
InsideCRM (from MarketingPower.com)
In an age where customers are as precious as rain drops in a drought, CRM is often hailed as the most essential business survival tool. But if CRM is indeed the best relief measure in this parched economy, why are customers still draining from companies’ rolls as though the software were a sieve?

December Luncheon Recap: Dark Matter Matters, Illuminating the Intersection of Brand and Culture
By Tamra Sund, Marketing Consultant, Tricertes, LLC
It may often be difficult to quantify the impact of your marketing strategy and tactics. Oftentimes, traditional methods are obsolete and better approaches are available. During the December meeting, Triangle AMA members and guests heard a lecture by Chris Grams, Senior Director of Brand Communication and Design at Red Hat, Inc. In a podcast preview of the presentation Grams said, “I hope that people walk away with an appreciation for those things that are sometimes hard to measure but the things that they know in their heart are important to their business”.
Many people associate the Red Hat brand with enterprise software and Linux. While acknowledging that the company is certainly involved in software sales, Grams indicated that Red Hat is actually about building communities. The presentation focused on key principles behind the open source development model which have allowed Red Hat to build communities which help them build better software faster as well as the underpinnings of brand and culture which have allowed that to happen.

Triangle AMA board and members recognize the following members for their contributions.
Linda Palmer is the volunteer of the month for January. Linda has been a creative force in helping the chapter “up the ante” in our outgoing communications/meeting invitations and was the driving force in creating the podcast preview for our December speaker from Red Hat. Linda is the Marketing Communications Director at Global Knowledge and has been a member of Chapter since 1996.
Drexel Barrett is our board member of the month for January. Drexel serves as a Director at Large for the Triangle AMA board and had taken the lead on the chapter’s boot camps over the past several months.
