By Karen Albritton, Chapter President-Elect 2008-2009
What a great time to be a marketer. Sure, I know budgets are shrinking and jobs are not as plentiful as they once were. Still, what other profession is in the midst of such profound and exciting change? What profession has as the ability to influence so many facets of daily life?
Two weeks ago the AMA and Capstrat hosted an event where we explored the intersection of gaming and marketing. Gaming represents more than a new form of entertainment or new medium. It's a new way for organizations to communicate and marketing will play a key role.
Just this past week the country and the world watched the conclusion of a political campaign where marketing, specifically digital marketing, was credited with forever changing how we choose our elected officials.

October Luncheon Recap: Telling a Great Story with Data
By Brian McDonald, Marketing Director, Zencos
Proving facts to management is always a difficult task. During our October meeting Susan Moore and Elissa Fink demonstrated their technique for telling a great story with data that can help you communicate the important facts in a memorable way. We have all faced the challenge of having too much information and data that our key points can get lost in all the data. In order to make an impact that will travel beyond your presentation or meeting, you have to bring the facts and data to life.
Susan Moore, whose global work and results were published in the book, Wake Me Up When the Data is Over, has held senior management positions with Microsoft and Eastman. Elissa Fink is the Senior Vice President of Tableau Software. Together, these two dynamic business leaders addressed the fundamental shift in how we see and process data.

Local Companies Needed for Marketing Study
| |
|
Triangle AMA member Gary McGrath is looking for companies wanting to participate in current marketing research being conducted.
This research investigates the relationship between internal employee activities (e.g. communications, training, job descriptions, employee management interaction, exchange of value) and customer perceptions of the quality of service received. The breakdown of these two important business arenas into measureable behaviors, that are statistically analyzed, may provide important insights into employee behaviors that significantly influence customer service. Participating companies will receive a report from this study that provides a comparison to other business-to-business service providers. This report will enable them to implement targeted improvements to positively affect service quality delivery.
Interested participants should contact Gary McGrath at 919-632-3235 or via email at gemcgrath@nc.rr.com.
