Event Summary

What is the future role of marketers? This was the discussion when Dr. Mitch Javidi, President and CEO of the Catevo Group join us at the October luncheon.

"Marketers will need to become Value Chain Managers, if they are going to succeed in the future," says Dr. Javidi. "It is imperative for marketers to collaborate with various verticals within the organization to truly understand the facets of clients' needs and the supply chain."

Triangle AMA Volunteer Spotlight

Brian McDonald, Newsletter Committee Volunteer

Brian McDonald is the Volunteer of the Month for October. Brian has been an instrumental to the AMAzing Times Newsletter this year. His experience in creating web services for non-profits has been helpful with the work he is doing for the Triangle AMA. He has jumped in to work on the layout and distribution of the monthly newsletter. This means working with the VPs of Communications and the VP of Web Services on short deadlines to ensure that the newsletter is available online every month.

Brian is a consultant with Zencos Consulting, an Inc. 500 business intelligence consulting firm in Durham. At Zencos Brian is responsible for project management and marketing campaign development and is in the process of becoming a certified project manager. With experience in several industries including telecom, manufacturing, software, advertising, and publishing, Brian has authored several technical articles and featured in case studies, newsletters and major trade journals and magazines. Brian and his wife Maura are both graduates of N.C. State and have two children, Ava, age 4 and Max, age 2. They live in Cary.

Time. It goes too slow when you're in line at the grocery store or in the dentist's chair, but too fast in practically ever other situation…

If you're like me, time has become my most precious resource. Seems like everyone I talk to these days has become overwhelmingly busy. How did it happen? Frankly, I'm not entirely sure. I do know technologies designed to help us get more accomplished and work less, have actually contributed to the fact that we all typically work more hours than our fathers. Technology keeps us connected so we can work from virtually anywhere. Sounds like a good thing, but I beg to differ. Further, technology has created a NOW mentality in which people expect immediate gratification for just about everything.
