Collegiate Connections Live!

Welcome to the Triangle AMA Collegiate Connections Live!

This is your place to learn about opportunities for working professionals in marketing to interact with students, faculty and collegiate chapter advisors at the universities and colleges in the Triangle area. In time, this will become a blog, and you will be able to post your information directly. For now, please submit your information, comments or queries to me - Anna Rzewnicki, Collegiate VP.

Students: Read about the value of collegiate membership in the Triangle AMA.

Current events

October 14 - Meet the Pros
... a student/professionals networking event hosted by the
NC State University College of Management Student Chapter
6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Nelson Hall, NC State College of Management
The student AMA chapter expects to have 30-40 members attending... all eager to network with working professionals in an informal setting. They are hoping for 20+ professionals for this event. A great time to meet new talent, discuss internship and career opportunities, and give the students a 'real world' view of the marketing profession. Those who attended the spring '08 event were glad they did.
For details or to RSVP, contact chapter advisor Ed Weems.

October 27 - Career Fair - Undergraduates

Advisors' Corner

I have heard from one collegiate chapter advisor who is interested in learning from others ... if you're interested in sharing ideas and insights, please contact me. When our blog is up and running, you'll be able to communicate with each other directly.

Research Opportunities

In the past year, I have heard from doctoral candidates seeking  professionals interested in responding to research surveys. I will post future opportunities here.

Similarly, our professional chapter members have occasionally sought students or a marketing class to help with research or other projects. I would be glad to pass your needs along to the academic community. Again, just send me an email message with your needs, timeline, and level of student expertise that you feel is needed for your project.

Collegiate Rep Volunteers

So many opportunities, so little time. But together, we can make this a valuable resource for our Triangle AMA members. A core group of volunteers met last year and laid the foundation for what you see here ... but we will need a few more to reach out to all Triangle area business schools. Our goal: to gather a list of marketing department heads and career resources staff that marketing professionals can contact directly regarding career fairs and other recruiting opportunities and special projects. Contact me if you're interested in being part of this gathering process. Those with strong ties to their alma mater are especially encouraged to participate ... a great way to 'give back' to your school!

I and the collegiate rep team look forward to making this a great year for creating student-professional connections.

Regards,
Anna Rzewnicki, Collegiate VP
